What is the 8-week MBSR course?

The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is a 8-week course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. This course has been taught successfully for more than thirty years. It teaches us to consciously and systematically address the challenges and demands of our everyday life. It helps us to reconnect with the simplicity of life, simply by living in the moment.

It is that by practicing mindfulness, a resource already present within us waiting to be used, we learn life-long tools. By reducing stress, we learn to take charge of our lives and wake up to new possibilities and increased awareness, clarity and calmness.

Students who have completed the 8-week MBSR course report experiencing an increased ability to deal with stress and difficulties. Many report feeling more balanced and an increase in their well-being. Typically, the immune system functions better and the practitioner reports to have more energy and productivity in their lives. Finally, many experience increased levels of attention, concentration, focus and creative problem-solving.

Who is MBSR course for?

  • Anyone experiencing emotional, work or relations stress
  • Anyone with sleep issues
  • Anyone who wants to start a regular mediation practice
  • The ones with some experience in meditation, yet to develop their own practice
  • Anyone looking for a secular, evidence-based approach to mindfulness meditation

What you need to commit to:

This course teaches a valuable life skill, the development of which requires a personal commitment to attending all nine sessions and maintaining a regular meditation practice at home of at least 30 minutes each day.

Also, as each class builds on the preceding week, if you miss a class, it is important to contact the instructor to catch up on the topics and get the weekly practice for the missed week and answer any questions.

In order to graduate, you must miss no more than two classes. Therefore, please carefully check the course schedule before registering.

Nevertheless, before joining the class it’s important we connect so we can make sure this course is right for you.

During this short conversation, we will answer any questions you might have.

When is the next course?
